Salmonella Outbreak Update

Following the recent release of a Government Statement on 18 August 2026, the Food Standards Agency are now aware that there have been a few hundred cases of Salmonella in the UK linked to eggs. The fact that origins have not been confirmed has led to confusion and misunderstanding for the UK public.

There have been many Egg Industry representations to the UK Government since the beginning of this year over concerns that Non EU or UK eggs are being allowed into the UK that do not meet EU standards adopted by the UK after Brexit.

This policy of allowing Not to UK or EU standard eggs into the Country does conflict with all the hard work that the UK and EU egg producers have put in over many years to reassure customers that “eggs are safe to eat”.

Please rest assured that NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Eggs purchased from trusted suppliers are as safe now as they have been for many years.

Eggs supplied by Knowl End are from farms that have the most robust safety schemes in place with testing and monitoring being carried out in accordance with the UK Government directives through the Animal & Plant Health Agency, the LION Code of practise and the RSPCA.

Our Italian Partners who we have worked with for many years have a large inhouse laboratory where testing is ongoing on a daily basis to ensure that the eggs you buy from Knowl End are the best and safest to eat.

Thank you for taking your time to read our statement and to be reassured that the eggs you buy from Knowl End are as safe today as they have always been.
